John Odom has lived in Jefferson County since he was 6 months old. He grew up on Carmel Drive in Lakewood where he was a Stober Elementary Stallion and watched the Broncos and their “Orange Crush” defense go to their first Super Bowl in 1977. He then went to Manning Jr. High School in Golden where he played football and wrestled for the Mustangs. He graduated from High School in Edgewater Colorado where he played football for the Jefferson Saints. (His sister and one brother graduated from Wheat Ridge High School)
John earned his bachelor’s degree in Chinese language from the Metropolitan State College of Denver and CU. As part of his degree, he attended schools in China for an intensive, language immersion program.
After earning his MBA at Thunderbird School of Global Management in Arizona, John returned to his roots. He lives in Applewood in unincorporated Jeffco. His wife, Olga, is a substitute math teacher for Jeffco Schools. Their 7 year old boy, Jack, is in the 2nd grade at Lincoln Academy in Arvada.
John has been a small businessman and entrepreneur for most of his adult life. He was part owner of a small business in Beijing China in the 1990’s. He has also been involved with several startups in Jefferson County in recent years.
On March 2nd, 2011 John Odom was appointed Jefferson County Commissioner. John’s lifelong connection to Jefferson County and knowledge of this beautiful part of Colorado has served him well as county commissioner. John is eager to continue to serve as your representative to the county government.
